流動債務が発生した場合には、現金を充分に持っていなければ債務超過を起こして破産してしまうことに（モノポリーで、破産は敗北を意味します）。そこで、万一の巨額な債務発生に備えた保険をかける必要がある。具体的には、（1）貯蓄を持つ、（2）信用力を確保するため、必要に応じて資産を抵当に入れたり売却したりして流動債務返済の原資にできる、流動性の高い資産をある程度確保しておくことが必要になってくるということ。
現実の社会では信用の格付けにおいて金利も決定されます。格付けが低い企業は高い金利でしか資金調達が出来ません。個人においては無担保のカードローンでは高金利であり、有担保の住宅ローンは低金利ですが厳しい審査があります。個人で返済トラブルでブラックリストに入ってしまい信用を失うと、その後何年間もクレジットカードを作れないなど苦労することからも信用を維持することは大切な「管理能力」です。

つまりモノポリーが教えてくれるのは、お金を稼ごうというのなら、お金の稼ぎ方について常に考え、努力しなければならないということ。1回でもおかしな手を打てば破産してしまうかもしれないだけに、モノポリーで財を築いて勝利するためには、高い注意力が必要。しかし勝利のコツをつかめば、実生活でもお金をしっかりと守り、増やせるようになるというわけです。また同時にモノポリーは、現金にしがみつくように安全にプレイしていては勝てないという大切な教訓をも教えてくれるといいます。
モノポリーの大きな特徴である取引は、現実社会でも重要な「かけひき（交渉力）」が鍛えられます。交渉についてはプレイヤー一人一人のキャラクターが現れます。現実社会においても交渉によって企業をＭ＆Ａをしてビジネスを加速するのと同様です。手元の現金がないプレイヤーから優良資産を買い叩くのはさながら「ハゲタカファンド」なようでもあります。
最終的に1位を目指す過程において、最大のライバルを倒すために別のプレイヤーと「同盟を結ぶ」など他のプレイヤーの心を読むなど色んなことを試されます。
