Nihonbashi is still the starting point! "Lion" protects and prospers with winged "Kirin"

The current Nihonbashi. The bronze statue may be more prominent than the inscription by Tokugawa Yoshinobu.

What about that bronze statue?

Nihonbashi is still the starting point. It may be the starting point of the highway and the starting point of economic development. It's such a place, so I want it to have a beautiful atmosphere. In recent years, the water has become cleaner, so Isn't it good for Feng Shui? If you've ever stopped at Nihonbashi, you'll notice. That bronze statue. It's an animal. What'll we do. That bronze statue is "lion" and "kirin".

Lion and Kirin

The lion statue and the Kirin statue contain a wish for protection and prosperity. The "lion statue" is a guardian! "Kirin statue" is prosperous!

There are a pair of lion statues at both ends of Nihonbashi.

The lion statues are a pair of "Ah, yeah". Same as "Aun" known for Nio-sama and Komainu-san at the shrine.

There are a pair of Kirin statues in the center of Nihonbashi.

The Kirin statue has wings. It is exactly "Kirin no Tsubasa". "Kirin with wings" seems to be the original of Nihonbashi. Hope for prosperity and further leap forward. Tokyo continues to be the center of dramatic prosperity, including postwar reconstruction and the bubble economy. Even without it, I think Nihonbashi is firmly supporting me.

God's protection

Kirin is a phantom beast. Or it is said to be an imaginary spirit beast.

It is also known as the "god who protects the center." "Blue Dragon, Genbu, White Tiger, Suzaku" protects the four sides of the city, and "Kirin" protects the center. Then, the lion and the kirin are suitable for the protection of the capital. I feel that Kirin, which has wings, is the characteristic of Japan. Digest in our own way, absorb nutrients, continue to grow, and leap forward. When I noticed Nihonbashi again, Your life can be further developed!

Someday again on a sunny bridge

The Metropolitan Expressway covers the sky. Nihonbashi is a representative of Japan. I didn't notice it before, but water traffic is back on the canal. Was there a route connecting Nihonbashi and Akihabara? I think that one day the Metropolitan Expressway will go underground and become Nihonbashi where you can see the beautiful blue sky.

Nihonbashi! Tokugawa Yoshinobu wields a brush

Nihonbashi is the "starting point". The starting point of the Five Routes, including the Tokaido.

What is the Five Routes?

Koshu Highway is. Trees are planted on the highway to form a tree-lined road. Are pine and cedar famous? Bamboo is also available in some places. It seems that one of the merits of row of trees is "securing the width of the road".

Volunteer by Tokugawa Yoshinobu

Now. Such, Nihonbashi. The inscription of "Nihonbashi" on the bridge is a voluntary work by Yoshinobu Tokugawa.

The last shogun, Tokugawa Yoshinobu. He has both Chinese characters and hiragana.

Volunteer is read as "Kigo". The brush is a brush. The tip of a brush, a brush. Volunteer is "volunteer" = "furu" "Shake the brush" means "volunteer". The character "Koki". I haven't known how to read it and what it means for a long time.
