「いとしのエリー」高見まこさんの作品。コミック。それが映画化されたときの主題歌が、「思いがけないSITUATION」で崎谷健次郎さんのデビュー曲です。
重低音が耳から入り、脳内で膨張して炸裂します。ほんの数秒の、イントロのイントロ。ひずんだギターとベースが絡んで曲が始まると、一気に物語に引きずり込まれます。
1987年の春は、なぜか聴く音楽あらゆる音楽が、強烈に突き刺さってきました。そんななかでも、崎谷健次郎さんの登場はインパクトが強かったです。ラジオのCMでワンフレーズ耳にするだけでビクッとなったり。ラジオで流れていたのを録音して何度か聴いたあと、発売されたアルバムを買いました。
『なんか最近の良い音楽ない？』という会話があると、私は『サキヤケンジロウいいよ！』と絶賛しまくっていたのですが、『え？誰。知らない』という答えが多かったです。それが一か月くらいすると、「いいね」「思ったより良かった」「このまえ聴いたよ」と言われるようになりました。それほど会話をしたことがない人から「サキヤケンジロウいいよね」と言われて、「サキヤが好きなら、これも気に入ると思う」と色々な音楽を教えてもらうようになりました。
「思いがけないSITUATION」は、疾走感のある曲。
「シチュエイショーン🎵」というフレーズが、印象的です。「いとしのエリー」の登場人物たちにもピッタリな世界だったこともあって、いっそうドラマチックに感じました。
しっかりと歌詞を「文学作品」のように読み込む、というよりも、耳に残るフレーズで想像力が刺激されていく感覚が強かったです。歌詞カードを見て、文字化された「歌」を見て読んだ時は、「耳で聞いただけ」との違いに驚きました。歌声と音楽演奏と結びついたときの、言葉の凄みと深み。
コミック「いとしのエリー」は、友だちの家にありました。読むためにお邪魔していたこともあります。友だちの兄の所有だったと思いますが、『ポテチ食いながらじゃないなら世勝手に読んでいいよ』と言われたのを覚えています。コミックに限らず本を読むときは『手洗い』『飲食厳禁』はもちろん、『洗った手は水分きっちり拭き取ること』と。今の時代なら潔癖症と呼ばれるのでしょうが、借りる側からするとむしろ分かりやすくて心地良い対応に感じられました。条件さえ守れば歓迎してもらえたので。
それからはページを開くたびに、「思いがけないSITUATION」が脳内で再生されるようになりました。イントロが勝手に聴こえてきます。映画化されていないシーンでも、ドラマチックに脳内で音楽が聴こえてきます。

コミック「いとしのエリー」が完結すると、コミックや映画の話題は薄れていって、音楽が存在感を増していったような気がします。
クライマックスシーンで効果的に使われているドラマの主題歌が、やがて独り歩きしてドラマを観たことがない人でも「あの歌いい」となっていくような、そんな感じです。
「思いがけないSITUATION」は、バンドサウンド。
なので、崎谷さんはソロアーティストだけれどライブではどんなバンド演奏になるんだろう？と興味がありました。
とにかく生演奏で聴いてみたい、ライブに行ってみたい、と思うようになります。結局、初めてライブで見て聴いて全身に音楽を浴びることになるのは、2年後。パルテノン多摩でした。

In the spring of 1987, for some reason, all the music I listened to was pierced intensely. Even so, the appearance of Kenjiro Sakiya had a strong impact. He was surprised just to hear one phrase on a radio commercial. He recorded what was playing on the radio, listened to it several times, and then bought the released album.
"Isn't there any good music these days? When there was a conversation, I said, "Kenjiro Sakiya is good!" I was praising it, but "What? Who. I don't know. " After about a month, people started to say "Like", "It was better than I expected", and "I listened to it before". The phrase "Situation Sean 🎵" is impressive. It felt even more dramatic because it was a perfect world for the characters in "Itoshi no Ellie".
Rather than reading the lyrics firmly like a "literary work," I felt that the memorable phrases stimulated my imagination. When I looked at the lyrics card and saw and read the transcribed "song", I was surprised at the difference from "just listen to it". The awesomeness and depth of words when singing and playing music.
The comic "Erie Itoshi" was at a friend's house. Sometimes I was in the way to read. I think it was owned by my friend's brother, but I remember being told, "If you're not eating potato chips, you can read it on your own." When reading a book, not just comics, "wash your hands" and "do not eat or drink", of course, "wipe your washed hands thoroughly with water". In this era, it may be called mysophobia, but from the borrower's point of view, it was rather easy to understand and felt comfortable. I was welcomed if I kept the conditions.
After that, every time I opened the page, "Unexpected SITUATION" was played in my brain. You can hear the intro without permission. Even in non-movie scenes, you can hear music dramatically in your brain.
When the comic "Erie Itoshi" was completed, the topic of comics and movies faded, and I feel that music became more and more present.
The theme song of the drama that is effectively used in the climax scene will eventually become "that song is good" even for those who have never seen the drama by themselves.

So, Mr. Sakiya is a solo artist, but what kind of band will be performed live? I was interested.
Anyway, I want to listen to live music and go to live performances. After all, it will be two years later that I will be exposed to music all over my body by watching and listening to it live for the first time. It was Parthenon Tama.
