徳川慶喜公の揮毫による銘版より目立つのは、青銅像のほうかもしれません。

日本橋は今も起点です。
街道の起点であり、経済発展の起点といっても良いのかも。
そういう場所なので、美しい風情があって欲しいですね。
近年は水がキレイになってきましたので、
風水的にもよいのではないでしょうか？
そんな日本橋で、ふと足を止めたことがある方ならお気づきでしょう。
あの青銅像。
動物です。
なんでしょうか。
あの青銅像は、「獅子」と「麒麟」です。
Nihonbashi is still the starting point. It may be the starting point of the highway and the starting point of economic development. It's such a place, so I want it to have a beautiful atmosphere. In recent years, the water has become cleaner, so Isn't it good for Feng Shui? If you've ever stopped at Nihonbashi, you'll notice. That bronze statue. It's an animal. What'll we do. 獅子像と麒麟像に込められているのは、守護と繁栄の願いです。
「獅子像」は、守護！
「麒麟像」は、繁栄！

獅子像は、日本橋の両端に、一対づつ。

獅子像は「あ、うん」で一対です。神社の仁王さまや、狛犬さんで知られる「阿吽」と同じ。

麒麟像は、日本橋の中央に、一対づつ。
There are a pair of Kirin statues in the center of Nihonbashi.

麒麟像には、翼があります。
まさに「麒麟の翼」ですね。
「翼がある麒麟」は日本橋のオリジナルのようです。
繁栄と、さらなる飛躍を願ってのものでしょう。
東京は戦後の復興やバブル経済など、飛躍的な繁栄の中心であり続けています。
もしかしなくても、しっかりと日本橋が支えてくれているんだと思います。

The Kirin statue has wings. It is exactly "Kirin no Tsubasa". "Kirin with wings" seems to be the original of Nihonbashi. Hope for prosperity and further leap forward. 麒麟といえば、幻の神獣。
もしくは想像上の霊獣と言われています。

さらには「中央を守護する神」としても知られています。
都の四方を守っているのが「青龍・玄武・白虎・朱雀」で、中央を守っているのが「麒麟」です。
そうすると、獅子と麒麟は、首都の守護にふさわしい存在ですね。
翼がある麒麟こそ、日本の特徴を言い当てている気もします。
自分たちなりに消化して、栄養を吸収し、成長し続けて、ますます飛躍。

首都高速が空を、おおっています。
日本を代表する日本橋です。
以前は気づかなかったのですが、運河に水上交通が復活していますね。
日本橋と秋葉原を結ぶルートもあったのかな？
いつか首都高速が地下化して、美しい青空を仰げる日本橋になると思います。

The Metropolitan Expressway covers the sky. Nihonbashi is a representative of Japan. I didn't notice it before, but water traffic is back on the canal.
