桜の名所いろいろありますが、御殿山もそのひとつ。
原美術館が近くにありますよね。
小高い丘まさにヒルズな台地に、広い敷地面積の低層住宅が並んでいます。陽当たり良好です。新緑の季節は光り輝くような空気であふれます。

御殿山とは？
What is Gotenyama?


江戸時代に将軍の御殿（館）がありました。江戸への入り口という立地、品川宿を見下ろせる高台。

「御殿山大茶会」は、長府藩主・毛利秀元が主催した茶会で、その場所が品川御殿でした。

この「品川御殿」が「御殿山」の名前の由来になったようです。

There was a shogun's palace (kan) in the Edo period. Located at the entrance to Edo, a hill overlooking Shinagawa-juku. "Gotenyama Tea Ceremony" was a tea ceremony sponsored by Hidemoto Mori, the lord of the Chofu domain, and the place was Shinagawa Goten. It seems that this "Shinagawa Goten" is the origin of the name "Gotenyama".

JR品川駅から坂道を登っていきましょう。すぐです。

JR・東急池上線・都営地下鉄浅草線の五反田駅からは大通りをまっすぐ歩いて行くだけなので、わかりやすいです。

JR＆りんかい線・大崎駅からは、ちょっとぐるりと旋回するような道筋になります。居木橋から御殿山通りを登るコースは、とくに新緑の季節がおすすめ。とても気持ちいい！

From Gotanda Station on the R / Tokyu Ikegami Line / Toei Asakusa Line, just walk straight on the main street, so it's easy to understand. From Osaki Station on the JR & Rinkai Line, the route will be a little round and round. The course to climb Gotenyama-dori from Iruki Bridge is especially recommended during the fresh green season. It feels so good!









京急北品川駅からは窪地を歩くイメージです。このあたり、本当は台地だったのが江戸時代に「台場建設」のために土が掘られてしまったところ。「品川台場土取場跡」に当時の面影がちらりと。

品川神社も散歩コースに入れれば、京急・新馬場駅も徒歩圏内です。

品川神社の石段を登りきると、ああ確かに海が見渡せたんだろうなあと、ありし日の品川に思いを馳せることができます。

If Shinagawa Shrine is included in the walking course, Keikyu and Shimbamba stations are within walking distance. After climbing the stone steps of Shinagawa Shrine, you can think of Shinagawa one day after you could see the sea.







御殿山通りは歩きやすいように整備されていて、気づくと『こんなに高いところなのか』と、線路を見下ろせたりして、あっというまに時間が過ぎていきます。たくさん歩いても、疲れが気になりません。なんといっても初夏の「新緑のトンネル」は、東京で暮らしている人にこそ堪能してほしいスポットです。
Gotenyama-dori is maintained so that it is easy to walk, and when you notice it, you can look down on the railroad tracks and the time will pass in a blink of an eye. Even if you walk a lot, you don't have to worry about getting tired. After all, the "fresh green tunnel" in early summer is a spot that people living in Tokyo should enjoy.







東京は「適当に歩いていても、どこかの駅に出られる」という環境が素晴らしいので、ついつい歩き続けてしまいます。かなり遠くまで歩いて出かけてしまっても、帰りは電車で。すごい安心感につながります。

御殿山の界隈は、直結している駅がなく、どの駅前からも離れているのですが、何度か通うように散歩をしているうちに、すごく近くに感じられます。

Tokyo has a wonderful environment where you can get to a station even if you walk properly, so you just keep walking. Even if you walk a long way and go out, you can return by train. It leads to a great sense of security. The area around Gotenyama does not have a direct connection to any station, and it is far from any station, but as I take a walk to go there several times, I feel very close to it.
