4月に雪が舞うことは、意外とあったような？と。うろ覚えなのですが。
とはいえ、ちらほらと優雅に雪の結晶が舞い散りながら空中で溶けていく印象が強いです。
さて。 4月10日の水曜日。
『まさか積もる！？』と心配もしましたが、こちらは予報通りに雨だけでした。
その一方で、関東北部山あいだけでなく、東京西部などでも雪が降ったもよう。
日光いろは坂でも積雪。奥日光の積雪は、20cmだとか。
つい先日、気温20度を超えて、初夏のような陽気でしたから、この気温差は厳しいです。
さて、雪と言えば、思い出しました。それが「雪の殿様」のこと。
そこで「雪の殿様」のことを、書いてみたいなと思います。

On the other hand, it seems that it snowed not only in the mountains of the northeastern part of Kanto but also in the western part of Tokyo.

Nikko Irohazaka also has snow. The amount of snow in Oku-Nikko is 20 cm.

Just the other day, the temperature exceeded 20 degrees Celsius, and it was as cheerful as early summer, so this temperature difference is severe.

Well, speaking of snow, I remembered it. That is "Snow Palace".

So I would like to write about "Snow Palace".

「どいとしつら」と読みます。
「雪の殿様」と呼ばれています。
雪の結晶を観察し、記録していました。

古河藩主・土井利位は、

日本で初めて雪の結晶を顕微鏡で観察した人物です。

観察の集大成が、「雪華図説」

「雪華」は、雪の結晶のこと、土井利位によって名付けられました。

He was the first person in Japan to observe snowflakes under a microscope.

The culmination of observations is "Sekka Zusetsu"

美しいデザイン。
このデザインは、庶民の暮らしにも浸透していきました。
「雪華」の図柄は着物にも取り入れられて、大流行。
そこから江戸の人たちに「雪の殿様」と呼ばれています。

Beautiful design.

This design has permeated the lives of ordinary people.

The "Yukika" pattern has been incorporated into kimonos and is very popular.

From there, the people of Edo call it "Snow Hall".

なお、雪の結晶の観察には、古河藩家老も協力しています。
その名は、鷹見泉石。家老であり、蘭学者です。
国宝の肖像画にも描かれている人物です。
