Awkward days Lacquer

Awkward days    Lacquer

Last time I introduced the scenery of the Noto Peninsula, but I suddenly remembered Wajima Nuri. The Hokuriku region is also famous for lacquer coating. The representative is Wajima Nuri. The luxury is wonderful with plenty of gold powder. There are various methods of crafting, such as Raden, Takamakie, and pear-skin. .. .. The screw is made by cutting out the inside of the shell and the rainbow-colored glossy part and sprinkling it in lacquer to give a glimpse of shine in the gold and increase the gorgeousness. In Takamakie, gold powder is sown on the base that is raised so that the gold powder rises from the flat surface, so you can see that there is a step when you touch the surface. (Please try it after it becomes your own) Nashiji is a method of sowing that leaves a grainy feeling on the surface when sowing gold powder. It is a technique reminiscent of the stars in the universe. When you hear lacquer, the image of "black" is strong, but there are also "white" and "red". There is also transparent lacquer that produces the material of wood, and various colors come out depending on the technique. Negoro-nuri, which gives the texture of wood, is also quite tasty, and I collected it very elaborately for a while. Is it an illusion that even a simple dish looks gorgeous if the bowl is fine? It is one of the pleasures to think about the vessels that are used every day by making full use of the illusion.

The fact that it was at the knees of the Maeda clan, who has a deep knowledge of tea ceremony, may be one of the reasons why the tradition of crafts has been passed down for a long time. It is said that Japanese sweets are delicious in areas where tea ceremony is popular. There are many famous Japanese sweets shops in the Hokuriku region, and the combination of sweets and matcha is very familiar. I felt a little lonely in the view of the sea, but when I looked at the other side, I realized that a very gorgeous tradition remained.
