うちの近所でわんさか芽を出して成長しているのは、おそらくペパーミントのほうかなと思っていたのですが、詳しい人に聞いたら「スペアミントだよ」と言われました。
ちなみにペパーミントは「スペアミントとウォーターミントの交雑種」だそうです。
ハッカは日本在来種！
正式には「日本薄荷」です。
「和薄荷」とも。
シソ科ハッカ属の多年草。
いちばん香りが強いのは、ハッカ「日本薄荷」のほうだといわれています。

野外から侵入してこようとする衛生害虫に対しても、忌避効果を発揮してくれます。
