この本を読んだのは、私が海外から帰ってきてからのことなので、私の旅を伴奏してくれた本というわけではないのですが、この本の中には旅の神髄が詰まっています。
『そうそう、こういう感じだった』と納得できる要素が、たっくさん。
さらには、私が身近な街街を積極的に散歩するようになったときに、かなり意識しています。
藤本義一さんの「旅に出る理由」が素晴らしいのは、「同じ場所で違う季節」を見きわめることの魅力が、手に取るように伝わってくること。つまり、もうすでに私たちが暮らしている街や地域でも、見方を変えるきっかけをつかめれば、それが「旅」になるということですね。
私がブログを書くことを「気ままな一人旅」と表現するのも、この「旅に出る理由」に書かれている内容に基づいています。そもそも「書くことが一人旅」と、藤本義一さんが語っているからです。
読むたびに自分の心に言葉が響くので、いつしかボールペンでラインを引いたり、まるで自分の手帳のように使っています。まさに、「買った本」だからこその使い方。いまでも手の届くところに、いつもある一冊です。
平成の時代、さまざまな本と出会いました。
いまなお傍に置いて、ぱらぱらっと、めくっています。
流行が終わっても聴き続けるヒット曲にも似ています。なくてはならない存在なのですが、堅苦しいこと抜きにして「見るだけで気持ちが高まる」「読むたびに心が躍る」のが、いちばんの理由です。
人生そのものが、旅。そんな旅の相棒になっている本です。
令和になってからも、またページを開きます。
